South Knox Boys Varsity Baseball loses to Sullivan 9-1

The Spartans held 6th-ranked 2A Sullivan to 1 run through 4 innings but ultimately fell to the Golden Arrows 9-1 in our season opener. Starter Evan Hartwick set the tone with 3ip, 41p (29 strikes), 1BB, 4K, At the plate, Evan doubled, Cole Worland broke up the no-hitter with a single, Kam Rehwald racked up our lone RBI, Jaxson Wirth drew two walks and DH Cohen Marvel and Turner Dobbyn reached on HBP’s. Spartan hurlers (Evan Hartwick, Mac Harmon, Lane Hartwick, and Sam Allen) kept 142 of 143 pitches inside the park on a wild windy night in Verne. One of the youngest teams in the state, the Spartans started 5 freshmen (and 3 frosh pitched in relief). The Spartans look to get into the win column Tuesday night at home at 6pm against the North Posey Vikings.
