SK 3, Mt. Vernon (Fortville) 2 Varsity Record (7-0) ------------------------------------------------------ The South Knox girls tennis team was to be part of the Mt. Vernon (Fortville) 8-team Invitational east of Indianapolis. Due to rain, the Invitational was canceled, but a regular match was played indoors in Pendleton, IN at the Community Sports and Wellness club. Alli lost a tight match in a 10-pt tie break with a #1 singles to a player who was undefeated in the regular season and was 2nd team all-state last year. Reagan was able to control her match from start to finish to give SK their first point. Jenna and Maggie played a competitive match, but fell at #2 doubles. Mt. Vernon was up 2-1, with #1 doubles and #2 singles still playing. Emily and Halle won the first set at #1 doubles, but lost a close second set. A 10-point tiebreak was played to determine who won. After being down 1-4, then 4-6, they pulled ahead at 8-7, and won 10-8. With the match at 2-2, Elaina was up a set and winning 5-4. She managed to win the next game with a deep slice to her opponents backhand, giving SK their 3rd point to defeat #28 Mt.
