The Varsity Spartans played with 9 and no bench tonight, battled the wind (and battled back from an 8-4 deficit), and emerged victorious, 11-9 over the Bloomfield Cardinals. The boys, some playing new positions, never gave up and stayed the course. Every Spartan got on base. Top Offense: Senior Evan Hartwick (1-2) smacked his 2nd career varsity homer, scored 3x, got plunked 3 times, and stole 3 bags; Brody West (2-4, 2B, RBI, R); Turner Dobbyn (1-3, 2R, RBI, SB, HBP); Cole Worland (2-5, R, RBI, SB); Isaac Shelton (1-3, 2B, Sac Bunt); and Cooper Neal (2R, 3BB, SB). Defense was locked in all night. Brody West relieved starter Cole Worland, struck out 5, walked 1 in 5ip, and got the win. The Spartans (6-7, 2-0 BC) trek down Highway 61 on Thursday to battle Pike Central.
