Lady Spartans lose to the Arrows 2-1 Varsity vs Sullivan High School (1-2) Loss The Lady Spartans hosted the Sullivan Golden Arrows this evening for an out-of-conference matchup on the second night of a back-to-back. The Spartans came out controlling possession and creating attacking opportunities from the start. As the game settled in, Sullivan began to find more opportunities of their own. The Golden Arrows eventually broke through midway through the first half after a miscleared ball led to the opening goal. The Spartans tried to respond but gave up another goal shortly after, heading into halftime down 2-0. The Lady Spartans rallied at the break and came out with a second wind in the second half. They became more aggressive and began taking the game to the Arrows. Shortly into the half, the Spartans were awarded a penalty after a Sullivan handball in the box. Unfortunately, the penalty was missed, but the momentum had shifted. The Spartans continued to press and were eventually rewarded with 16 minutes remaining when Khloe Minderman sent a nice cross to Kalissa Lavely, who finished it to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Spartans continued to push for the equalizer and created several more half-chances. Their final opportunity came with just a minute remaining, when Kadee Jeffris’ free kick was barely kept out by the Sullivan goalkeeper. The Lady Spartans battled through adversity and showed plenty of fight in the second half, especially on the back end of a back-to-back. The Spartans move to 6-3-1 (3-0 conference) on the season. Next up, the Lady Spartans face county rival Vincennes Lincoln on Saturday at 5:00 PM at Lincoln High School.
