Lady Spartans Complete Comeback in Wild 4-3 Battle Varsity vs White River Valley (4-3) Win The South Knox Lady Spartans hosted White River Valley tonight for an out-of-conference matchup, and the game came with plenty of energy and intensity from the opening whistle. The Spartans controlled much of the early possession and created several dangerous attacking opportunities, while the Wolverines looked dangerous on the counter. In the 15th minute, South Knox finally broke through when Azaria Easley found Kalissa Lavely, who put the Spartans on the board. The Spartans continued to push and found another goal, with Easley once again setting things up for Khloe Minderman, who put it away to give South Knox a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. The second half stepped up another level. About 10 minutes into the half, White River Valley got on the board to cut the lead to 2-1. Shortly after, a corner kick turned into a scramble in front of the Spartan goal, and the Wolverines found a way to poke it home and even the game. The momentum had completely shifted. A few minutes later, a miscleared ball gave White River Valley another opportunity. They laid it off and hammered it home to take a 3-2 lead. But the Spartans weren’t done. South Knox kept its composure, continued to possess the ball, and kept working to create chances. That pressure eventually led to a corner kick, with Minderman swinging the ball into the mix. After the ball came back to the ground, Kadee Jeffris was able to put it away to even the game for the second time. With the game tied and both teams pushing for the winner, South Knox continued creating dangerous attacks and finally broke through with less than 20 minutes remaining. Kalissa Lavely found Khloe Minderman, who buried the go-ahead goal and gave the Spartans the lead for good. White River Valley pushed hard for an equalizer in the final minutes, but the Spartan defense stayed strong and kept the Wolverines at bay. Layla Thomas came up with several crucial saves late to help preserve the victory. Final: South Knox 4, White River Valley 3 A resilient performance from the Lady Spartans. After seeing a 2-0 lead disappear and falling behind 3-2, they fought their way back and found a way to finish the game with the win. The victory moves the Spartans to 7-3-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
