Lavely Sets Single-Season Record as Lady Spartans Roll Past North Knox 6-1

By Cameron Engstrom | Sep 29, 2026 10:17 PM

The Lady Spartans hosted county rival North Knox this evening for an in-conference battle, and the Warriors came ready to play. North Knox came out fast, taking the game to the Spartans in the opening five minutes and earning three corners in a short span. They capitalized on the third opportunity to take an early 1-0 lead. The Spartans responded quickly. In the 11th minute, Reagan Harrington found Kalissa Lavely for the equalizer. Just a minute later, Kadee Jeffris sent a cross into the box that Lavely volleyed beautifully out of the air and into the net to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead. Three minutes later, Lavely turned provider, setting up Azaria Easley to extend the lead to 3-1. The Spartans controlled much of the remainder of the half, but North Knox nearly found a way back just before halftime. A Warrior breakaway created a dangerous opportunity, but keeper Layla Thomas came up with a big save to keep the Spartans ahead 3-1 at the break. South Knox came out of halftime ready to continue the attack. Just five minutes into the second half, Khloe Minderman took the ball down the goal line and sent it across to Lavely, who finished to make it 4-1. The goal was a historic one. With her third goal of the night, Kalissa Lavely became the single-season goal record holder for the Lady Spartan soccer program with 24 goals on the season. From there, the Spartans rotated players and positions, giving several players valuable minutes in different spots while continuing to control the game and hold strong defensively. The Spartans held the 4-1 advantage for roughly 20 minutes before adding two more goals. In the 64th minute, Jeffris drove down the right side and sent a low cross toward the middle. Lacey McCarty was there to hammer it home with a great first-touch finish. A few minutes later, the same duo connected again—this time McCarty setting up Jeffris, who fired a shot from outside the box into the net for the Spartans’ sixth goal. Final: South Knox 6, North Knox 1 The Lady Spartans improve to 9-3-2 (5-0 conference) on the season. Tonight’s stat leaders: * Kalissa Lavely — 3 goals, 1 assist * Kadee Jeffris — 1 goal, 2 assists * Lacey McCarty — 1 goal, 1 assist * Azaria Easley — 1 goal * Reagan Harrington — 1 assist * Khloe Minderman — 1 assist * Layla Thomas — 9 saves The Spartans travel to Barr-Reeve Thursday at 5:30 PM for their final conference match of the season.
