The South Knox girls kicked off their season with a road win Thursday night, defeating the Princeton Tigers. After a slow start and some first-game nerves, the Spartans struck first when Kadee Jeffris delivered a low cross that Cala Charleston buried into the back of the net. Both teams settled in from there, keeping the game even until the 36th minute, when Jeffris once again provided the assist—this time to Ava Babrick, who finished to give South Knox a 2–0 lead at halftime. The second half opened with chances for both sides, but the Spartans pulled further ahead in the 62nd minute. Kalissa Lavely found Babrick for her second goal of the night. With the game in hand, South Knox rotated in younger players to gain valuable experience while still keeping the pressure on. In the final moments, Babrick completed her hat trick with a composed finish over the top, sealing a 4–0 victory. The win was a true team effort, starting in the back with goalkeeper Layla Thomas and a strong defensive line of Zoe Gilmore, Cora Edwards, and Keelie Brown holding the Tigers scoreless. The Spartans return to action Saturday at 10 a.m., when they host the NE Dubois Jeeps.
