Varsity Girls vs Northeast Dubois (3 - 3) Win in penalties The South Knox girls battled through a rollercoaster match Saturday morning against Northeast Dubois, ultimately earning the win in penalties. The Spartans struck first in just the 5th minute when Ava Babrick found the back of the net. The Jeeps quickly answered, scoring less than a minute later and then again soon after to take a 2–1 lead that held through halftime. South Knox came out strong after the break, immediately applying pressure. Just three minutes into the second half, a corner from Kalissa Lavely deflected off a Dubois defender and into the goal, bringing the game level at 2–2. With 20 minutes to play, Cala Charleston delivered a cross that Kadee Jeffris finished to retake the lead for the Spartans. Dubois, however, responded once more, equalizing with about 10 minutes left. With the match tied 3–3 at full time, the conference showdown went to penalties. Behind clutch goalkeeping and composure at the spot, the Spartans came out on top, winning 2–1 in the shootout. South Knox moves forward with confidence and will be back in action Monday at Evansville Christian, kickoff at 6 p.m.
