The South Knox Spartans hosted conference opponent Barr-Reeve on Wednesday night in a match that saw both sides trading possession throughout the midfield. While the Vikings were able to control stretches of play, it was the Spartans who turned their time on the ball into dangerous chances around goal. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when a Barr-Reeve handball in the box gave South Knox a penalty. Kalissa Lavely stepped up and buried it to make it 1–0. In the 27th minute, after more back-and-forth play, Cala Charleston found Kadee Jeffris, who finished calmly to double the lead. The Spartans went into the half up 2–0. The second half opened much the same way, with both teams battling for control in the middle of the field. Ten minutes in, Lavely slipped a pass through to Ava Babrick for the third goal, giving South Knox breathing room. From there, the Lavely–Babrick connection clicked twice more, with Babrick completing her hat trick and Lavely collecting three assists on the night. With the underclassmen earning key minutes down the stretch, the Spartans continued to apply pressure until the final whistle, sealing a 5–0 win. South Knox improves to 3–1 overall (2–0 in Blue Chip Conference) and will be back in action next Wednesday, September 3rd, when they travel to Mt. Vernon for a 6 p.m. non-conference matchup.
