The SKMS Lady Spartans Cross Country Varsity and JV teams competed in the North Posey Invitational on Saturday, August 30. The Varsity finished 3rd among 11 complete teams with 94 points, behind Castle Middle School (1st- 40 points) and Evansville North (2nd-87 points). Macyn Perry came in first for the Lady Spartans and 3rd overall with a time of 12:41, followed by Jacie Shepard in 8th place at 13:25. Quinn Scott was in third for the team at 14:07 with a 17th place finish, with Molly Carnahan (14:57, 32nd), Lee Emma Dellinger (14:58, 34th), Brynn Leser (14:59, 35th), and Lydia Emmert(15:01, 36th) rounding out the top 7. The Lady Spartans JV team brought home 1st place with an impressive score of 20, beating Plaza Park, Mater Dei, Evansville North, Reitz, and Gibson Southern for the win. Maggie Nolting was in first for the Lady Spartans and was also the race champion, running a 14:42. Audra Like was in 2nd overall and for the team at 14:44, with Sydney Ellerman in 3rd overall and for the team at 15:21. Shelby French was 4th overall and for the team at 15:32, with Alexis Hammond (16:38, 10th overall), Esther Singleton (17:34, 15th overall), Lyla Chesser (17:57, 19th overall), and Harper Snyder at 22:20. The SKMS Lady Spartans Cross County team will compete next on Tuesday, September 2 at The Northeast Dubois Invitational.
