South Knox returned to their home pitch in dominant fashion, blanking Washington Catholic 5–0 in a Blue Chip Conference matchup. From the opening whistle, the Spartans set the tone, keeping the ball in the Cardinals’ half and striking first just seven minutes in. After patient buildup play, Tucker Mahan flew by his defender down the left wing and whipped in a low cross that Ross Holscher redirected past the keeper into the bottom right corner for a 1–0 lead. Seven minutes later, Levi Loudermilk doubled the advantage with an individual effort - collecting a loose ball outside the box, weaving through defenders, and firing a low strike into the same corner. South Knox nearly added more immediately after the restart as Jakob Graman forced a sharp save, Holscher’s header was denied, and Loudermilk’s long-range rocket whistled by the left post. With 15 minutes left in the half, Malaki Downen slipped a through ball to Kaiden Grumieaux, who buried a low shot into the left corner to make it 3–0 at the break. The second half was more of the same: total Spartan control. In the 49th minute, Loudermilk set up Grumieaux for his second of the day before Holscher found Downen five minutes later, and the senior hammered home South Knox’s fifth. With the match in hand, South Knox emptied the bench to see out the clean sheet. Goalkeepers Blake Sutton and Colton Westfall each tallied one save, combining for the shutout. The win lifts South Knox to 2-2-2 on the season. Coach’s Comments: “We were really sharp in the first half with our passing and decision-making, and it showed in the goals we scored. I was happy with the way we kept pressing, even after building a lead, and it was great to see a balanced attack with three of our boys (Holscher, Loudermilk, and Downen) finishing with a goal and assist. Just as important, our back line stayed disciplined and the keepers did their job to keep a clean sheet. It was a complete team performance.” Next up: The Spartans travel for a non-conference matchup at Pike Central on Tuesday, September 9, with kickoff set for 8:00 p.m.
