South Knox hosted the Shoals Jug Rocks this evening in a conference matchup at the Spartan Pitch. The Spartans wasted no time, striking just 43 seconds in when Reagan set up Cala Charleston for the opening goal. From there, South Knox took control of possession and kept the pressure high. Charleston doubled the lead in the 7th minute, this time assisted by Ava Babrick, and just a minute later Babrick added a goal of her own. The Jug Rocks settled in briefly, but the Spartans broke through again in the 16th minute as Lorelai Davis dribbled through defenders and calmly finished for the fourth goal. Three minutes later, Charleston completed her hat trick off a feed from Lena Dent, giving her three goals inside 23 minutes. Not long after, Babrick delivered a perfectly placed corner that Kadee Jeffris volleyed home for a 6-0 lead. Shoals pulled one back before halftime with a strong individual effort, making it 6-1 at the break. The Spartans rotated their lineup in the second half, giving players experience in new positions while still controlling the game. Charleston added her fourth goal in the 46th minute from a Davis assist, then notched her fifth in the 60th minute after a setup from Babrick. Babrick later cut through the defense herself, finishing with a sharp left-footed strike to extend the lead. Charleston continued to chase history, and in the 74th minute Babrick found her once again for her sixth goal of the night — breaking the Spartans’ single-game scoring record. The goal enforced the IHSAA mercy rule (nine-goal lead with 20 minutes or less remaining), ending the match in a 10-1 Spartans victory. It was a complete team performance, with every player gaining valuable minutes and the group continuing to grow in possession and confidence. The Spartans move to 5-3 on the season (4-1 in Blue Chip) and return to action Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. when they host the Bloomfield Cardinals at the Spartan Pitch.
