South Knox put on a dominant display Thursday night, cruising to a 7–0 victory over visiting Shoals in Blue Chip Conference play. The Spartans nearly struck right from the opening kickoff, as Owen Keyes slipped a clever through ball to Levi Loudermilk, whose effort was denied by a sharp stop from the keeper. But the breakthrough wasn’t far off; nine minutes in, Malaki Downen set up Loudermilk for a simple finish to open the floodgates. South Knox doubled the lead in the 16th minute when goalkeeper Blake Sutton delivered a long assist to Loudermilk up field, who twisted past his defender before finishing calmly with his left foot. With 17:30 left in the half, Loudermilk turned playmaker, sliding a pass through to Kane Simmons, who buried his chance to record his first Varsity goal. Momentum only grew from there. A spilled shot from Chris Duke fell kindly to Tucker Mahan, who tucked away the rebound to make it 4–0. Just minutes later, Loudermilk completed his hat trick after another pinpoint pass from Keyes. The onslaught continued when Ross Holscher wove through the entire Shoals backline before slotting home, giving his side a commanding 6–0 advantage at halftime. The Spartans emptied their bench after the break, with their JV players seizing the opportunity. In the 60th minute, Liam Valenzuela set up Collin Ellerman, who curled a brilliant strike into the top right corner to cap the scoring at 7–0. Sutton anchored the defense with a five-save shutout, as South Knox improved to 4-2-2 on the season, including 2-1 in Blue Chip play. Coach's comments: "We came out sharp tonight and executed well from the start. I was especially pleased with how unselfish we were in the attacking third, and it was great to see some of our younger players playing valuable minutes - they took their chance really well. Overall, it was a solid team performance and we look forward to more of the same on Saturday." Next up: The Spartans host Bloomfield this Saturday, September 13, with kickoff set for 11:30am.
