South Knox wasted no time asserting control in their non-conference home match against Bloomfield, storming to a 9-0 victory that was called early under the IHSAA mercy rule. The scoring started just two minutes in when Levi Loudermilk slipped a clever pass through to Ross Holscher, who finished calmly to make it 1-0. In the 10th minute, Holscher nearly doubled the lead when his shot rattled the crossbar, but the rebound eventually fell to Kaiden Grumieaux, who rifled a strike off the left post and in for 2-0. In the 14th minute, Loudermilk pounced on a loose clearance, beating the keeper one-on-one to make it 3-0. He turned provider again midway through the half, sliding a through ball to Grumieaux for his second of the day and a 4-0 lead. Joseph Ellerman then played Kane Simmons through for goal number five, before the Spartans erupted with three more in the final 10 minutes of the half. Holscher added a pair, completing his hat trick — one of them assisted by Grumieaux, the other by keeper Blake Sutton off a free kick deep in his own half — while Simmons tallied his second from a Tucker Mahan feed, giving South Knox a commanding 8-0 advantage at halftime. The match concluded 20 minutes into the second half, when Turner Dobbyn set up Simmons to complete his own hat trick, sealing the 9-0 final score. Keeper Blake Sutton recorded two saves and another shutout, while adding another assist to his tally. With the victory, South Knox extends its winning streak to five, improving to 5-2-2 on the season. Coach's comments: "I thought we maintained a high level of intensity from the opening whistle. Our ball movement was sharp, and our composure and discipline was much better today. Having both Ross and Kane finish with hat tricks is a reflection of the quality of service they received from their teammates and the unselfishness in our attack. Defensively, we stayed organized and secured another clean sheet, so it was a very balanced performance that we look forward to carrying into our next game." Next Up: The Spartans travel to Barr-Reeve on Tuesday, September 16, for a Blue Chip Conference clash with the Vikings at 5:30pm.
