The South Knox Spartans hosted the Bloomfield Cardinals on Saturday morning in non-conference play and wasted no time taking control. Just two minutes in, Ava Babrick opened the scoring, then quickly added two more goals in the 8th and 11th minutes to complete an early hat trick. The Spartans kept pressing, with assists from Kadee Jeffris and Cala Charleston helping Babrick add three more before halftime — giving her six goals on the day and tying the program’s single-game scoring record, which Charleston had just set on Thursday. With a commanding 6-0 lead, South Knox rotated players into new positions before halftime, giving defenders chances up top and attackers minutes in the back. The changes led to two more first-half goals: Keelie Brown scored her first career goal (assisted by Eleanor Herb), while keeper Layla Thomas found the net thanks to a setup from freshman Kora Yochum. In the second half, the Spartans continued to control possession and were rewarded when Sarah French scored her first career goal in the 51st minute off an assist from Jurnee McClure. That tally capped the scoring at 9-0, with the game called early due to the IHSAA mercy rule. Babrick’s six-goal performance ties Charleston’s program record, making them co-holders of the single-game mark. The Spartans improve to 6-3 overall (4-1 Blue Chip) and return to action Tuesday when they host Pike Central.
