The South Knox Lady Spartans wrapped up their season this evening with a 3-0 loss to the Forest Park Rangers in the opening round of sectional play. The Spartans traveled to Forest Park and held their own early, keeping the match tightly contested through much of the first half. The Rangers pressed forward relentlessly, earning several corner kicks before finally breaking through to take a 1-0 lead. Despite the pressure, the Spartans stayed composed and continued to battle. Coming out of halftime, South Knox made some adjustments and looked to push the attack. They created a few promising moments but couldn’t quite break through the Ranger back line. Forest Park maintained the majority of possession and eventually capitalized on another corner to make it 2-0, later adding a third goal to seal the match. Keeper Layla Thomas was outstanding in goal, recording 22 saves and keeping the Spartans in the game throughout with several impressive stops. The Spartans fought until the final whistle, showing heart, effort, and grit throughout. It was a strong season for the Lady Spartans, finishing 10-5-2 (6-1 in Blue Chip Conference play). Thank you to all the players—especially our seniors—and to the parents for their support in making this a successful year.
